Personal Trainer: Cooking — Making Sugar Crepes

Aside from the recent hinge crack, I figured I may as well make a brief post on what I was doing during the day of said incident.

I was in the middle of working through a sugar crepes recipe. After letting the batter sit for a few hours, I opened up the DS again to continue the recipe (when the fated hinge crack occurred).

A description of the cooking process follows after the cut, along with a couple of low-quality images taken in the middle of the night.

Dreaded DS Lite Hinge Crack

I tried to prevent it as much as I could.

I put my limited edition Pokemon DS Lite in a clear support case almost immediately after I bought it.

Excuse the poor image quality.

Excuse the poor image quality.

I always opened it only up to the first “click”, and never the second or third.

Even when playing “book style” games like Hotel Dusk or Tokimeki GS, I pretty much kept the DS half-closed because I was afraid of putting too much pressure on the hinges.

niconico douga terminology: …ぱねえ?

Something I’ve been wondering about for a while.

Sometimes I’ll see something like

“クオリテイぱねえ”

in the comments, and wonder what it means.Something about the quality. Is it good? Is it bad?

I’ve seen it in some…Yu Gi Oh…videos, and I’m wondering if it’s something that goes along with a funny moment, sort of like “ふいた”.

Or is it some kind of descriptive ending, sort of like “っぽい”?

Well, I’ll probably be able to figure it out from context eventually…probably.

Edit: And then another one–who’s Tanaka supposed to be? I mean, I’ll be watching some…Yu Gi Oh…videos, or even other random videos, and then there’ll be some comment about 田中. Usually only appears on parody or stomach-collapse videos.

siGrE: suGeE Commemoration PV!

I’ve been neglecting the blog for a while, but NOT because I’m playing Emil Chronicle Online. No, really, I’m not.

Anyway, what better way to end the summer than with a Taishou Era-like song featuring the Kagamine twins?

One Day Until Emil Chronicles CBT!

Emil Chronicles Online Log In Screen

Emil Chronicles Online Log In Screen

This wait is really killing me. In the meantime, I downloaded the client to be ready ahead of time, because darn it, I WANT IN.

Just seeing the log in screen and all the settings options brings me back to the days when I was heavily addicted to RO. It’s the MMORPG experience!

I think I’m going to go for a Titania Fencer. And I’ll probably just raise strength at first, until more information on Knight builds comes out. I’m not sure whether I should play it cautious like I usually do and just be conservative and all-around okay, or if I should just focus on a specific build for specific situations. In RO, I usually always went with all-around or hybrid builds that could adapt to any situation, but the tradeoff was that my characters never EXCELLED at any one thing. Then again, I’d rather be all around and get to experience all of Emil Chronicles’ world, rather than just focus on one aspect like PVP.

Well, I also don’t know if there’s a character creation limit either. I’m guessing it’s around 3?

Emil Chronicles Online Closed Beta.. Coming This Thursday!

Be warned–this link is sort of graphic-heavy for those who are running on slower connection speeds or older computers.

This isn’t a lie, is it? I mean, after that whole disappointment of waiting and waiting for IAH games, and then more waiting…

I’m a little apprehensive though, as the English looks a little bit broken and undecipherable on some parts of the site. But hey, if it’s in English, I can’t complain. I just hope that there’s no IP block, as I really have been waiting and wanting to play ECO for ages ever since the possibility of an English version was available.

I don’t know how to get into closed beta, but I’ll probably check the website frequently for any clues. Either way, I’m happy, since ANY beta commencement means that the game is going to come out sooner or later.

Meanwhile, I’ve been looking for clues on making character builds. I mean, there really isn’t that much information on the specific stats of all the jobs, or how the races affect job stats.

Or is it that in Emil, it just doesn’t matter? Can I just choose whatever stats and race and job I want and still not have it be screwed up? As in, can I just wing it?

I know that in other MMORPGs I’ve played, I have done some serious calculations and skill tree arrangements because one wrong move screws up the character build…so it would be sort of nice if I didn’t have to worry about that this time around.

Anyway, I’ll admit it. The graphics and character customization appeals to me. I’m a sucker for that. Something just puts the graphics a step above the other “cute” MMORPGs out right now.

I was thinking of have either a Titania or Dominion Fencer, and then building it to Knight. Is there anything weird about that kind of build?

Also, I’m not too sure on this job progression.

I’m pretty sure that there are the “first” jobs, which include swordsman, fencer, etc. Then, after that are the “second” jobs, which can go in two directions. For example, a fencer can either become a knight or a dark stalker, right? So does that mean that the highest job level is the “second” job level?

Unlike RO, which I heard has recently added even a higher class than the transcendent class..

Well, I guess for my first character, I’ll just wing it to see if  I can get the hang of it. It’s basically what I do for most MMORPGs I start on, it’s just that it’s depressing since my first character usually ends up being abandoned, and the improved second character usually becomes my main.

Summon Night Twin Age: I Caught Millisar!

I just finished a first playthrough of Summon Night Twin Age, and as expected of the Summon Night series, I liked it a lot. It still doesn’t beat out the first swordcraft story as my favorite, though.

Game spoilers follow. But come on, it can’t take more than 15 hours or so to beat the game. It’s worth it for the refreshing factor.

Horror Story of the Left Index Finger

My left index finger is really swollen up right now. Er…around twice it’s normal size. I can’t even bend it because it’s so bloated. I’m wondering whether this is very serious, or if I should wait a few days or so before going to the doctor. I mean, it’s just a finger, right?

Angelique Duet DS and Hex Editing: Beginning of a Long Journey

The following is a noob account of a noob otome gamer trying to noobly rom hack into an otome game. Enjoy…if you dare.

I’ve been on and off with looking inside the Angelique Duet rom, and following along with the beginner guides at Rom Hacking, and also looking through old threads on gbatemp. One thing I found out was, “Darn, I suck at this”.

But anyways, after on and off weeks of reading about hex editors and tables and trying to figure out where my problems were, I finally came up with something…

My extremely embarrassing first attempt at replacing text.
